Here is a perennial which grows from 10 to 18 inches tall in height. Many stems are produced from a slender rhizome, the rhizomes spread short distances under ground and the stems are erect, unbranched, hairy and often violet tinted with swollen bases. The leaves are opposite, the lower ones long-stalked and the upper short-stalked. They are oval in shape, with either a heart-shaped indentation or rounded at the stalk, pointed at the tip, and with coarsely-toothed margins. Whorls of flowers grow from the axils of the upper leaves, with a bell-like shape. The flowers are white or yellowish and produce a two-lipped corolla with a curved tube. Inside the corolla are two long and two short stamens with dark brown anthers. Flowering in early spring and summer. It grows in woods, and open moisture retentive soils. This seed some times produces yellow-green varigated seedlings.

Zones 4-8. Sow in plastic baggy with a table spoon of moist seed medium and keep at room temp for two weeks then place in fridge for 10 weeks. sow and use 55f for germination.

30 seeds.
