Clump forming perennial with deeply lobed-palmate leaves with sharp points. Fast growing with tall spikes of yellow flowers. I love the large decorative leaves on this plant- does best in bright open shade with morning and late afternoon sun, in a moisture retentive soil. the foliage grows three to four feet tall with the purplish flower spikes reaching 6 feet tall, blooming in mid summer.
Zones 4-8. Takes about 5 weeks at 55-60ºF, germination is erratic to 6 months or more so keep seed tray moist for one year (Do not allow to dry out).
