[Heliomeris multiflora] 'Showy Golden-eye' Asteraceae:

Plants grow 1 to 3 feet tall and have many good sized, bright yellow 2 inch wide daisy like flowers. The flowers have yellow disk rays and yellow centers. The centers of just opening flowers start off green and as the flowers age yellow stamens will the centers. This species grows well in dry soils in full sun.

Zones 6-10, but can be grown as an annual in other zones with an early sowing. Blooms midsummer to late summer, blooming late July and August when grown as a perennial. Native from South-western North America, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada and California.

Sow in the fall or while the ground is still cold in the spring. When sowing the seeds in pots or trays use one week at 50-78F then 30 days at 23-38F, then move to 60F for germination.
