'White Evening Primrose' or 'Showy Primrose'
A day blooming species with large cup shaped flowers that are soft pink and with age turn softer pink or even white. Plants grow any were from 6 inches tall to 2 feet tall, depending on the moisture of the soil. Flowers are fragrant and stay open at night too. This one spreads by way of under ground runners, so is best used in open areas with sandy loam or contained with a deep boarder. Summer blooming in zones 5-10. This species is found growing in these states. Alabama,Arizona,Arkansas,California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina,Tennessee, Texa, Utah, Virginia and West Virginia. I have grown it here in my zone 4 garden with some winter protection. Cover seeds, darkness needed for best germination, use F70, germination in 10-30 days.
