'Purple Passion Flower' or 'Maypop' or 'Apricot Vine' (pass-eh-FLOOR-ah: in-car-NAH-tuh) Passifloraceae:

A vine with tendrils that climbs to 12 feet tall with attractive with purple colored flowers white markings. Plants can spread by way of underground runners, the flowers are scented. Grow in part shade as a vine on a trellis, fence or as a sprawling ground cover.

Zones 6-9. Seeds are dormant and normally germinate after a long period of moist cool conditions. Germination can be speed-up with the use of GA3. Soak seeds in warm water for 48 hours, changing the water every 12 hours with fresh warm water, sow and thinly cover seeds and keep at 65F for 3 weeks, if no germination move to 36F for 8 weeks, then move to 60F for germination which can be spread-out over a number of weeks. the seeds that do not germinjate should be kept and subjected to another cold period. Or sow the seeds in a large container and keep out side and remove seedlings and transplant out into permanent location in late spring, protect the seeds from rodents.
