'Jacob's Ladder' or 'Greek Valerian'
This selection produces white flowers above lacy fern like foliage. The flowers have protruding yellow ended stamens. Grow in sun or part shade. Likes cool moist soils but well drained, avoid wet soggy and hot dry soils. Blooms late spring. Plants do best in light shade but will grow in more shade or in full sun if provided a moist soil. I have had good success in a dry lightly shaded locations-but plants start to look rough about mid summer-so I cut them down with the lawn mower and they will start to bloom again in a few weeks. Can bloom from mid spring till late summer if kept dead headed. This is the easiest species to grow and seeds germinate in 2 to 4 weeks.
Zones 3-8. Native from much of the northern part of the Northern Hemisphere. Including Europe, Asia and North America were they are found at the margins of woods and swamps, by streams and in grassy fields. Lightly cover seeds and use F 68, germination is spread out over a few weeks and starts in 10-25 days after sowing and can be spread-out over a few weeks.
