'Smooth Wild Rose' or 'Meadow Rose'

Here is a long lived rose grows 3-5 feet tall and has many stems with few if any thorns at the top half of the plant, some plants are almost completely thorn less. This shrub produces large showy pink flowers from June through late summer. The fruit, called 'hips', resemble small orange colored apples and are about half inch in diameter, they persist on the plants well into winter. Plants grow well on dry soils and make a nice addition to the prairie land scape or in a wild life garden. The hips of wild roses are considered an important food source for wildlife.

Soak seeds in hot water for 2 days, change the water with fresh hot water every 12 hours. Put seeds is a plastic baggy with moist seed mix and put in fridge for 120 days. Remove and sow at 65-70F. Germination is spread out over many months. Hard seed coats, scratching the seeds with a nail can be helpful.

50 seeds.
