Plants grow 1 to 2 feet tall with flowers that are upright facing and open trumpet shaped and a vivid red color. The flowers have darker reddish spots and form whorls at the top of the stems. the leaves are thin and end in sharp points.

Zones 3-8. Native from Northeastern Siberia. Soak seeds in warm water for 12 hours, change the water after 4 hours with fresh water. Sow by just covering the seeds and using 65-76ºF, after 9 weeks, move to 24-39ºF for 9 weeks then back to 65-76ºF.
