'Ornamental Rhubarb'

Herbaceous perennials with a deep rootstock. The rootstocks are even colorful - being bright orange or yellow. Early in the year plants have crimson-purple ovate toothed leaves that turn dark green and bright red stems. Reddish colored flowers in tall 'spikes' reaching 6 to 8 feet tall and produced in summer. Full sun to part shade, for best effect grow in good soil that is deep and moisture retentive but well draining.
