Plants grow 1 to 3 feet tall with1 to 2 inche wide white to rose-purple colored flowers in early summer.

Zones 3-9. It is native form the USA were it is found wild in the states of Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico, north to Colorado, east to Kansas and Minnesota. In the wild it is found growing in prairies, grassland opening in woods, woodland margin and disturbed areas.
