Missouri coneflower (ruhd-BECK-ee-uh: miss-oor-ee-EN-sis)

Plants grow 2 to 3 feet tall and have daisy-like flowers with yellow rays and black center cones. Plants bloom late summer and fall. Often spreads to form large colonies in the wild. The flowers are produced on branches stems above narrow medium green leaves. Foliage and stems are notably hairy. This species is an attractive, long-lived perennial for the wildflower garden and should be grown in full sun in soils that are dry and well draining. Plants form spreading clumps.

Zones (4)5-8. Native from Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois , ,Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas were it is found growing in limestone glades and rocky prairies.
