'Wild Petunia' or 'Hairy Wild Petunia' or 'Fringeleaf Wild Petunia' (roo-EL-ee-uh hew-MIL-is)
Plants have low growing foliage with flowering stems up to two feet tall. The flowers are tubel, bell-shaped with a wide open petunia-like purplish colored, up to 2 inches wide and three inches long with five shallow rounded lobes. May to October bloom period. The lavender to lilac colored flowers appear singly or in clusters at the upper leaf axils. The plants are hairy, including the flowers. Grow in dry well draining soils in full sun to part shade.
Zones 4-9. Native from Central and Eastern USA.
