'Late Figwort' or 'Maryland Figwort' or 'Carpenter's Square' or 'Eastern Figwort' Scrophulariaceae.

Unusual plants for an open shaded garden, growing 4 to 7 feet tall plant, with small rounded flowers with cup-like mouths that look some-what like a horses mouth with a bad over bite. The small flowers are a deep reddish-purple color on the inside, with a greenish almost brown cast to them on the outside. Visited often by hummingbirds in late summer.

Hardy is USDA zones 4-9. Native from Eastern and Central USA were it is found growing in dry woods.
