'Wild Cineraria' or 'Purple Ragwort' Asteraceae.
This selection is an early blooming strain with magenta-purple colored flowers that have bright yellow centers. The single daisy shaped flowers are produced in good numbers on 30 inch tall stems. This is an annual that looks its very best in a mass planting. They can self seed around when happy - on open ground. Best in well drained soils in full sun, they also take summer drought well.
Native from South Africa and naturalized in parts of California. Surface sow the seeds and use 68-75ºF , germination in 10 to 20 days.
