The small blue pincushion-like flowers with a thimble shaped center cones, bloom from June through August into late September. The foliage grows 2 inches or so tall and the flowering stems reach 8 to 15 inches tall. The flowers are produced on wide branching stems that are 12 inches or so across. The leaves are both, few lobed and deeply cut. Plants will self seed lighly over open ground. A worthwhile plant to grow in the rock garden or front of the boarder- taking a well drained - open soil and full sun. 2n=16
