There are over 55 different 'Blue Eyed Grasses' in cultivation. This is a good selection with a wide range and representation of the different species and forms. Flower colors include whites, yellow, light blue to dark blue and reddish purple to dark purple. Tall plants and short plants. A good collection for the rock garden or front of the mixed border. A good way to start a collection of this genus. Not all will be hardy in the northern zones (4-5) but 6-9 should be good for almost all of them. Some of the seeds will germinate easily right way and others will need a cool period. Some are fast growing and others are slow-so sow and keep at F 65 for four weeks-remove those seeds that have germinated and put the rest in cool conditions (33-40F.) for 5 weeks, spread the seeds out well during sowing so as not to crowd out the slower growing plants with the faster growing ones. Or sow out side in a protected location in the fall for germination in the spring 100 seeds.
