Creeping Hedge-nettle Lamiaceae:
This species is variable with this selection producing stems with sharp bristles. Plants grow about 3-4 feet (4 ft = 1.22 m) tall with somewhat lax stems that produce a few large branches that are each terminated in a spike of rose-pink colored flowers that are produced over many weeks in mid to late summer to frost. Sun to light shade in moist soils. An interesting native plant to grow up amongst other plants like Iris and moisture loving grasses. Self seeds around and can be overwhelming of smaller plants. Best used as a naturalized plant in a 'wild' area. Easy enough to remove extra plants by pulling, but they spread under ground by way of stolons, making them hard to eliminate.
