'Maiden Tears' or 'Bladder Campion' Caryophyllaceae: Soft medium pink colored flowers a top round bladder-like balloons. The flowers are produced over cushion like foliage with wiry stems and thin silver hued leaves. Plants flower at 4 to 6 inches. This selection has a prostrate habit with a width of 8 inches. A rock garden treasure. Many flowers produced over many weeks. Very nice in pots were the stems slightly trail down the sides. Goes summer dormant later but foliage is semi-evergreen. Will flower well the first year from an early sowing. Seeds are good sized and the seedlings fast growing and plants are drought tolerant. An easily grown selection from seed. Grow in full sun in moist but well draining soils. Zones 3-7. Sow at 70ºF with germination starting in 2 weeks and spread-out over a few months. 70 seeds.
