This Toad lily grows 2.5 feet tall and produces creamy-white flowers tinted reddish-purple with darker purple-lilac spots. This is another late summer and fall bloomer. Stems may be tinted purple and the leaves are somewhat heart shaped, making them a little different from many of the others listed here that have long alternately paired leaves. Plants like a shady location in moisture retentive soils, mix in a generous amount of well decayed leaf mold. Zone 3-8. Surface sow seeds and use F 55, germination is spread out over a few months. Cover with plastic to keep the seed mix moist and out of bright sunlight. It might be helpful to chill the seeds after sowing for three weeks at F 34.
