Many small white to soft pink flowers in spikes over attractive light green leaves. The foliage reaches a height of 3 or 4 inches with the flower stems reaching a height of 12 to 15 inches. Nice filler plants and ground cover in shade to light shade. blooms in spring and again in the fall. These are spreading plants by way of creeping stolons. The rounded heart-shaped leaves have toothed edges.
Zones (4) 5-8. The species is native to the Himalayas, China and Japan. Surface sow seeds onto moist seed mix and keep at 55-68F for four weeks, if no germination move to fridge (25-39 F) for 6 weeks, after move to 45-55F. Germination starts in 14-30 days and is spread out over many weeks. Or sow in tray and put outside in a sheltered location in the fall or late winter for germination in the spring. Seeds need some work for germination.
