'Hairy Toad Lily' (try-SER-tis: HER-tuh)
Upright growing plants for open shade, with soft pinkish-purple flowers. The flowers have large, darker purple spots. Grows 20-40 inches tall and blooms in late fall. The flowers are produced at the top of the plants. Use in moisture retentive soils that are well draining but on the moist side in open shade. Plants will grow into large slowly spreading clumps in a few years.
Zones (4)5-8. Sow at 70F for 4 weeks by placing seeds and a small amount of moist seeds medium in a sealed plastic bag, then move to the fridge for 5 weeks, then sow and use F 55 for germination in 1-5 weeks, can be difficult- so be patient. If no germination, have the seeds go through another cold period again.
