'Nodding Trillium' or 'Whip-Poor-Will flower'

This form has good sized, white flowers held out just under the edges of the large rounded leaves. The peduncle (the stem that the flower is on) should be any were from 3 to 5 inches or more long and held horizontal to the ground, a non declining form with the flowers just peaking up through the leaves. In the summer- bright strawberry red colored fruits are produced. Long-lived plants that produce multiply stems after many years of growth. Blooms May-Jun. Flowering should occur in four to seven years after germination. This year�s seed was collected from a plant that was 18 inches tall and had four flowering stems. Large attractive leaves are rounded in shape. Grow in open shade in moisture retentive soils that are well draining. Seeds are stored warm moist until November, then will be moved to cool moist. In the fall sow outside right away, if you receive the seeds in the winter, put the seeds in the fridge until March then sow for germination this spring and next year. Native from these states in the USA.
