'Lemon Grass' or 'Oil Grass' Poaceae:
This fragrantly scented grass is often used in the kitchen to make teas, herbal medicines and Eastern inspired soups plus it's used to flavor other dishes and make perfume.
In the garden this tropical grass grows into dense clumps up to 6 feet tall and almost 4 feet wide.
Zones 10-11. Frost sensitive. Other areas start inside early for nice display in the garden or in a pot on the patio in summer and for later harvesting. Native from India and Sri Lanka, but naturalized over much of the world in tropical ares with open grasslands. Very thinly cover seeds and use 70F
with germination in one to four weeks.
Light helps with germination.
