[Echinops ritro ssp. ruthenicus]
Silver cast stems and leaves with clusters of mid blue globe shaped flowers. Plants grow 3 feet tall and produce multi branched stems. Blooming in July and August. The plants are attractive before they bloom with their showy and interesting foliage - they got that thistle look that...thats so much fun. A good cut flower that makes a great dried flower too. The flowers are located in nice tight globes. Use in full sun in well draining soils. Cover seeds lightly and use F 70, germination in 10-16 days. The species is native from Austria and Bulgaria to Central and southern Russia.
