Pelargonium

Pelargonium

The pelargoniumís are a large and diverse group of plants, but only a few species are commonly grown. Here belong the plants known as Geraniums, which are very satisfactory house and pot plants and extensively used as bedding material too. Few plants will give better ornamental results in leaf and flower. They are ease to propagate, making them general favorites for all types of gardeners. The seed grown strains now are equal to those propagated strictly from cuttings. Cuttings of partially ripened wood root very easily and are grown into blooming sized plants in a short time. The plants, either when planted out or grown in a pot, make fine decorations. Seed raised plants, in three to five months, begin to bloom. Plants may be taken up from the garden and potted and kept inside over winter but they rarely give as much satisfaction as young vigorous subjects. The seeds are large and easy to handle, germination and growth of the seedlings is easy. Seed generally has a high germination rate. The seedlings have a good rate of growth and start off life on the large side.
