Baptisia bracteata has branching stems with alternate, trifoliate leaves. This species grows 30 inches high with creamy white, pea-like flowers that look like lupines in shape. After flowering is done, the green seed pods turn blackish. The showy seed pods are attractive in dried flower arrangements.
