Alpine Aster Asteraceae:
Aster alpinus 'Pinkie' is large flowering, with bright pink colored flowers. The plants grow 10 to 12 inches tall and bloom in late spring. The foliage is a mat-forming clump with narrow oblong-shaped leaves in a rosette. Aster alpinus is an early-blooming species, for rock gardens, or along rock paths, or used for an edging in the perennial border. Grow in full sun to part shade, plants can take some mowing in summer.
Surface sow the seeds for best germination, light helps with germination. Use F 65-78, with seed germination in 2 to 4 weeks, but sometimes is erratic from 1-10 weeks.
