Best grown as an annual in most of the country. The plants will start to flower in 6-8 weeks after seed germination. They grow 30 inches (30 in = 76.2 cm) tall and have 10 inch (10 in = 25.4 cm) spikes of mauve-pink colored flowers. Nice upright form. The plants tolerate different types of extreme weather conditions, including drought and rain, cold or heat. Blooms from mid summer into fall. Best grown in well draining soils that hold some moisture. Overwinters best in dry soils, they should be covered with a layer of dry winter mulch, in the north or where winters are wet, a rose-cone or other cover is very beneficial.
