'Hardy Snapdragon' (an-TEE-ree-num)
This native of Spain and Portugal is winter hardy in zones 6-10. It has white snapdragon like flowers with yellow throats. Upright growing to a height of 20 to 30 inches and a spread of 12-20 inches. Showy spikes a little less 'formalized' than the 'annual' snaps. Use as a Hardy Annual or Half Hardy Perennial. The name is supposed to mean 'nose like' (Greek) but in reality means something like 'against nose' (Latin). Thinly cover seeds and keep at 70ºF for 4 weeks. If no germination, then 5 weeks at 32-39ºF, move to 53-59º for germination. Light needed for best results.
