'Nodding Onion'

Umbels of light pink to dark lavender colored, bell shaped flowers hang down from 6 to 20 inch tall stems. Blooms June into August, followed by attractive seed heads. Best in full sun or light shade in moist but well drained soils. Best effect as a group of five or more plants- allow to self seed to create showy colonies.

Zones 4-8

For best germination results start with 12 weeks at 30 to 39F, move to 65-70F for erratic germination. Some seed might take 2 years or more. Try soaking seeds in hot water, let soak for 24 hours and change the water with new hot water every 8 hours. Germination in 7-65 days.
