Golden Marguerite or Ox-Eye Chamomile or Dryer's Chamomile or Yellow Chamomile (an-THEM-is: tink-TO-ree-a)
Bright yellow flowers over fern like foliage on very drought tolerant plants. Nice cut flowers or plant where you want some color for a long time during the hottest parts of the summer. Plants do very well in poor soils and will self seed on bare ground. Not that good in really humid areas. Do not fertilize too much. Otherwise, you will end up with a very large mat of foliage and few flowers. I allow this plant to self-sow around the yard and garden and am always pleased with the results.
Native to western Asia. The flowers have been used to make a yellow dye. Will bloom the first year from an early sowing. Surface sow seeds and use 70F, germination in 5-18 days.
