(kent-OW-ree-a) from the Greek word 'Kentaur' or Centaur (the winged Horses of pagan mythology)- which were believed to use the plants in this genus as medicine. this species has soft yellow flower heads over prickly look foliage, the flowers have interesting silvery bracts. Plants grow 2.5 feet tall. Blooms mid to late summer.
