This species is a bushy annual with upright flowering stems. The flowers are bright yellow with reddish-purple markings at the base of the flower rays. Plants grow best in sandy loam soils that are well draining, in full sun. Allow plants to self seed for years of flowers.
Native to southern USA including the states of: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas.
