Campanula cretica

Campanula cretica is a rare endemic found only in western Crete, where it grows on shady cliffs and steep rocks. Plants grow 5 to 20 inches tall and are quite dwarf at the highest elevations of its native range. The flowers are showy and range from blue to white. The flowers are bell shaped and held out nearly horizontal on the stems. The leaves are heart or kidney-shaped, thick and larger than typical bellflower leaves, and they have a few large teeth and wavy margins. When first described it was named Symphyandra cretica. Campanula cretica flowers between July and September.
