Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote Superior'


English Lavender

Plants grow 12 inches tall with midnight blue flowers and silver-gray foliage. Use as a cut flower or even dried. They make an attractive, short hedge, with fragrant foliage. Long blooming period from late spring throughout summer, being most prolific during July. Plant in full sun in poor soils that are well draining. Use as a rock garden subject or as a boarder or mass planted for a sea of blue color. In the north plants will not over winter that well in moist soils. 
Great for containers, used in the border, or as a mass planting, or for edging along a walk way or drive way.

Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote Superior' is a reselected form of 'Hidcot Blue' with deep violet-blue flowers and much more unform plant habit. 

Zones 5-8

Surface sow the seed and use 60F, germination starts in 10 to 30 days. If no results move to 25-38F for 5 weeks.
