'Blue Flax' or 'Prairie Flax' (LY-num)
This Flax is upright growing with many branched, stems, growing 12 to 16 inches tall. Perennials with narrow leaves and an abundance of cup-shaped, blue flowers that bloom late May to September. A fast-growing perennial that re-seeds itself and has moderate water requirements. It displays a moderate tolerance to salt and alkali soils too. Grows best in lite, well draining soils in full sun. Flowers open on sunny days and tend to close up in late afternoon, blooms heavily for many weeks.
