Japanese Primrose

Another deciduous species that is strong growing and forms clumps of rosettes of leaves with a tall upright stem arising from the middles. Plants flower at 18 inches or so tall. These seeds producing plants with intense carmine-red flowers. Very attractive salverform shaped flowers in nicely spaced whorls around sturdy stems. This species is native from moist-open shady places in Japan. 

Carmine is the general term for some deep red colors that are very slightly purplish but are generally slightly closer to red than the color crimson is.

Zones 3-8

Sow the seeds of 
Primula japonica 'Carminea'  in a small plastic bag with some moist seed mix and seal-up and leave at room temp for two weeks, them move to the fridge for four or five weeks. Sow and keep at F 55 for germination.
