New Zealand flax Agavaceae:
Seeds should produce 80 percent plants with large red-brown leaves with yellow-orange flowers in panicles. Large plants when fully grown (from 3 to 8 feet tall and 3 to 5 feet wide) but not fast growing. Also very useful as cut leaves for a vase.
Cover seeds with a thin layer of soil medoum and use F 70, germination is spread out over many weeks, keep seeds moist but not flooded. This species is native from North South Stewart, Chatham and Auckland Islands, were it is found in soils that are wet to moist.
