Aconitum napellus 'Newry Blue'

6 available for immediate delivery

This selection grows 36 in (36 in = 91.4 cm) tall plants with deep blue flowers that bloom in July. Nice upright growing plants with spikes of many showy flowers lend some nice vertical effect to the semi shady garden or in full sun where soils are moisture retentive. To me the foliage is very attractive in the spring as the plants emerge out of the ground; the leaves are very lacy and cut, shaped somewhat like a hand. Plants like cool moist well-drained soils.

Sow in a bag with moist seed mix and keep at 70F (70 F = 21.1 C) for three weeks, then place in a cold fridge for four weeks, move to F55 where germination will occur in 1-4 weeks. Light helps with germination. Plants will flower the third year. A good candidate for sowing in the fall or early winter and keeping outside for osculation temperature and germination in spring.
