Saponaria officinalis 'Plena'

Soapwort or Bouncing Bet Caryophyllaceae:

Double and semi-double flowers in medium pink. The flowers are produced in good number on 3 foot tall plants. Attractive flower displays over many weeks from early to late summer. Plants spread by way of short underground runners, so use as a mass planting. Blooms heavily in late spring and has flowers into late summer. The sap of this species was mixed with water to make a soap - thus the common name 'soap wort.' Grow in full sun to half day shade, long lived and drought tolerant.
