[Thymus praecox ssp. britannicus] Mother of Thyme (TY-mus: pol-IT-trik-us:: brih-TAN-ih-kus) :
Creeping mat-like clumps. Plants grow 6 inches tall, they have finely hairy stems and leaves stems. The small, rounded leaves are blue-green. In summer, clusters of small, white to lilac-pink flowers are produced. Plants spread to about 9 inches wide and the scented leaves are enjoyable when crushed.
