Globe Flower Ranunculaceae:

Large soft yellow flowers on stems that grow about 20 inches tall. Blooms mid spring into early summer.  Place in part shade in well draing but moisture retentive soils that do not dry out. Tolerates wet soils for a while. Not for hot dry locations. Long lived clump forming perennials, in zones 6 and lower the plants do best in bright open shade all day. Best in heavy soils.
A good choice for moister rentive soils along streams and ponds, for moist areas of borders, rock gardens or open woodland areas mixed with Trilliums. Mass plantings are very showy. Mix with ferns and astilbe and Hosta.  Clumps can be divided in mid spring or late summer by digging the plants up and pulling them apart by hand.
