A choice, rich dark purple-violet flowering plant. Deadhead after blooming to produce a second flush of flowers. This purple flowering mullein has handsome, dark green, crinkled, oval-shaped, basal leaves that form a mat on the ground before six to ten unbranched flowering spikes rise from the ground producing dozens of rounded paper-like blossoms on three foot tall stems. 'Violetta' is a reliable late May to July, rich purple-flowering seed strain, with abundant flowers even re-blooming after dead-heading. A plant that is useful for its vertical effect and worthy suitability for smaller gardens. Grow in well-drained soils in full sun. 'Violetta' is easy-to-grow and self- sows it's self in the garden year after year. Not all plants will come true, weed out off colors. Germination in two to three weeks at F 65. Needs full sun and dry/well draining soils in the winter and early spring. Keep seed in constant moisture (not wet) Do not cover the seeds, but tightly press into the seed starting mix.
