Lysimachia atropurpurea has long, thin shaped foliage which is silver tinted. Plants with spikes of dark wine-red colored flowers. Grows 18 to 30 inches tall. Nice cut flowers or attractive plants for large containers, a unique display. Does best in moist but well draining soils, were it will spread-out slowly to form wide clumps. In drier soils the plants should be grown in some shade. Plants can be added with good effect to a 'Black Garden' for its dark colored flowers, which are produced in midsummer. The plants keep blooming till early fall.
